Rutgers basketball lost a key starter to the transfer portal on Friday.
Spencer is among the players on the Scarlet Knights roster who received overtures from other programs —that just about every high-major program is combatting in the age of name-image-likeness opportunities — and has elected to play his final season of college basketball elsewhere, the person said. A graduate transfer, Spencer will be immediately eligible at his next stop.Spencer was the Scarlet Knights’ leading scorer and best shooter last season, his first and only in Piscataway.
Spencer transferred to Rutgers last offseason after three years at Loyola-Maryland. In his lone season with the Scarlet Knights, he had the best shooting seasons of any Scarlet Knight from beyond the arc and at the free throw line in nearly a decade.
