The US leader went on to hail the resolve of Nato partners. “Knowing who stands with you makes all the difference. That’s what solidarity means.”Mr Biden warned that the coalition behind Ukraine would face “hard and very bitter days ahead,” suggesting that the US sees little prospect of a swift resolution or Ukrainian victory.
But he vowed that “democracies of the world will stand guard over freedom today, tomorrow and forever.” The president also offered reassurance to his hosts in Poland, which shares a border with Ukraine and has been hit“An attack against one is an attack against all,” he said. “It’s a sacred oath.” The speech marked President Biden’s second visit to Poland in a year, which has become one of the most active members of the coalition supporting Ukraine and one of the leading contributors of aid.
