A Reuters camera crew captures the moment a shell lands near one Ukrainian air defense unit as Russian troops continue to pound supply lines near the city of Bakhmut
on Thursday in heavy fighting on the flanks of the eastern city of Bakhmut, their latest advances in what appears to be a shift of momentum in the area after a months-long Russian offensive.

We try to work, we try to detect them, and, of course, we're trying to destroy them."Reuters was unable to verify the battlefield situation.Moscow sees Bakhmut, a city of about 70,000 before Russia's full-scale invasion nearly 15 months ago, as a possible stepping stone towards capturing the rest of the eastern Donbas region.
But Kyiv has for days been hailing battlefield successes around the city that could eventually trap the Wagner forces inside the city.
