Ukraine claimed to have destroyed a Sukhoi Su-57, Russia’s most advanced fighter jet, at an airfield deep inside Russia Russia is struggling to defend its territory from Ukrainian drone attacks that caused the loss of one of its most advanced fighter jets at the weekend.Satellite images shared by the GUR appear to show a damaged jet at the Akhtubinsk airfield near the city of Volgograd.Reports suggested that a second such jet may also have been hit in the raid.
Mr Savill put Russia’s difficulty to counter against the drones down to the “very broad reach” of the different drone systems. “They have hit Moscow, and a couple of other bomber bases around 2000km away . They’re hitting targets in the east, the south-east and the north of Russia. In particular, the Russians cannot anticipate what drones will be used to attack because they are a mix of Ukrainian-made drones, some older drones from before the war and, potentially, imports from the West.
