Gladiator star Russell Crowe discusses being impressed by seeing the Coliseum set built for Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2 and admitts to being jealous.
Gladiator star Russell Crowe has seen Gladiator 2's Coliseum set and admits to being jealous of the sequel. The upcoming movie will star Paul Mescal as Lucius, the son of Maximus' lover Lucilla , on his journey to become an emperor. Ridley Scott returns in the director's chair, with Napoleon's David Scarpa penning the script, while Denzel Washington, Djimon Hounsou, Derek Jacobi, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Pedro Pascal, and Moon Knight's May Calamawy round out the cast.
I admit to a certain tinge of jealousy, because it reminds me not only of my youth, but of what that meant for me in my life. Will Maximus Appear in Gladiator 2? While Maximus died at the end of Gladiator, there's no stopping Scott from having Crowe reprise his role as Maximus in a flashback or dream sequence. Since not much is known about the upcoming sequel or what exactly it will cover, Crowe's comments on seeing the Coliseum set may tease an appearance from him in some capacity.
