TV chiefs are now investigating the presenter in light of allegations made against him by several women.
Russell Brand is being probed by TV chiefs amid rape and sexual assault claims made against him by women. A Channel 4 production firm and the BBC are investigating the comedian and whether bosses knew about claims over his alleged behaviour. The move follows claims revealed by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 show Dispatches. One source said: “The reviews will look at what concerns were raised at the time, and crucially if they were acted on.
A researcher claimed concerns about Brand were dismissed by managers at Endemol, the company commissioned by Channel 4 to produce the shows in 2004 and 2005, after being reported. Channel 4 insisted it is determined to understand the “full nature” of the claims, adding that since the alleged incidents there has been “extensive change” and the channel now has a “zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour”.
The Metropolitan Police said: “We are aware of media reporting of a series of allegations of sexual assault. At this time, we have not received any reports in relation to this. She expained: “We will be closely monitoring the responses of the media, especially our public service broadcasters, to these allegations, and looking at the questions that this, yet again, raises about the culture in the industry as a whole.”
