The United States Postal Service says it is working to cut costs in an attempt to return to a path toward profitability.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - In an attempt to reverse what’s amounted to more than $87 billion in losses the United State Postal Service has amassed from 2007 through 2020, USPS said it is in dire need of making additional cuts from its operations to improve its financial position and potential profitability.
According to the USPS, first-class mail consists of postcards, letters, large envelopes, and small packages weighing 13 ounces or less. It said the changes would not be implemented until after the General Election in November. “So I have no confidence. Statements that something this can only take a matter of days?” he said. “In reality, it probably is more than a week.”“We hear the stories about medication,” he said. “We hear the stories about people getting their paychecks, for example, people getting important documents, you know, not in a timely fashion.”
James Boxrud, USPS Strategic Communications for the WestPac Area, said that now and – he believes – into the future, the majority of mail from rural origins is delivered within three days or less.
