Locals were left baffled after spotting the unusual visitors walking around Heathhall, Dumfries, on Saturday morning.
A pair of runaway porcupines were found roaming around a Scots housing estate after escaping from their farm home two miles away.
In a Facebook video of the porcupines, farmer Ben Best explained: “We did break the internet around Dumfries. There were so many messages on Facebook pages in the area. These guys were moved to our small animal experience earlier. “The body isn’t actually that big - the spikes make them look way bigger than what they actually are. They’ve got a huge, big pen but they got out. They ended up around two miles away in Heathhall in someone’s garden.
“The neighbours got a great show.” The park manager added that no one was in any danger from the porcupines, who are relatively tame. “They don’t shoot quills,” he said. “They drop them if they get scared. They will raise them as a defence mechanism.
