RTA expands Waterfront Line service to weekend, holiday and special events

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority will be adding Waterfront Line service to its holiday and Saturday and Sunday schedules. It will also over the route during select special events.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Starting Aug. 4, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority will be adding Waterfront Line service to its holiday and Saturday and Sunday schedules from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to a news release.

This expansion aims to provide better access to key economic and entertainment destinations in Cleveland. The Waterfront Line will operate for a variety of sports events as well. The service will run for all Cleveland Browns home games during the 2024 season, as well as special events like the WWE SummerSlam on Aug. 3 and the Rod Stewart & Billy Joel concert on Sept. 13. Hours will be based on event times.

As a vital connection, the Waterfront Line allows RTA to link the commercial and residential community to popular attractions such as the Great Lakes Science Center, Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Browns football games and the Flats East Bank Entertainment District.RTA operates Sunday and holiday service on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. However, Waterfront Line stations will not be served on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

The expanded service will affect the Waterfront Line route, with major stations including E 9th/North Coast Rapid Station, Settlers Landing Rapid Station, South Harbor Rapid Station, Tower City Rapid Station and W. 3 Rapid Station.If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
