RRQ secured themselves a two-match win streak with their upset against Team Secret in the fourth week of VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: Pacific League.
RRQ’s confidence was definitely at its peak as it’s reflected by the team’s impeccable performance against one of the tournament favorites to make it to the VCT 2023 Japan Masters.During the first game on Icebox, Team Secret stayed true to their style for their own map pick as they ran a no-duelist composition with Jayvee “Jremy” Cuyco on his signature Sova. Unfortunately, this composition did not work as the team recorded a pitiful negative kill-death ratio except for BORKUM who recorded a egg.
RRQ heavily controlled the momentum in Game 1, with EJAY punishing an unsuspecting Team Secret with his super aggressive and absurd positioning early on while Hagai Kristen “” Yesyurun proved why he was one of the best sentinels in the league with his 24/14/2 KDA as Killjoy. Furthermore, RRQ never lost the lead during this game despite Team Secret’s four-round win streak in the later rounds as it eventually ended 13-10.
With their ongoing win streak, RRQ now boasts a record of 2-2, just enough to be in the middle of the pack. Meanwhile, despite having the same record, Team Secret is now in the red with a 2-2 record of their own and is currently in danger of missing their chance to get to the VCT 2023 Japan Masters if things continue to go south in the upcoming weeks.
As for their next matches, RRQ will be facing another South Korean juggernaut in T1 for their next matchup next Sunday, April 23, while Team Secret is set to take on DetonatioN FocusMe on the same day.
