They're now best known for being members of the Royal Family, but those who married into the Firm once had successful careers in a variety of industries.

The 75 year old went on to work as a secretary for several firms in the West End before becoming a receptionist for the decorating firm Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler in Mayfair.Kate Middleton The Princess of Wales studied history of art at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and worked as a part-time waitress during her studies.

She also appeared on Do or No Deal as a suitcase model. The 58 year old worked for a variety of firms including Capital Radio, where she worked for four years, as well as public relations companies The Quentin Bell Organisation and MacLaurin Communications & Media.

Jack, 36, has carved a career in the hospitality industry, with his first job being as a bartender before becoming the manager of swanky Mayfair nightclub Mahiki. Crown Princess Mary went on to carve out an impressive career in the advertising industry, before then meeting now-husband Prince Frederik in a pub in Sydney in 2000.

During a work visit to northern Spain in 2002, Queen Letizia met Felipe and the pair went on the tie the knot in 2004. She worked in sales and economics for various companies, and was also once an English and maths teacher. Charlene began her swimming career in 1996 and went on to represent South Africa at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, with her team finishing in fifth place. She retired from professional swimming in 2007.

Queen Mathilde of Belgium Queen Mathilde of Belgium graduated with a degree in speech therapy from the Institut Libre Marie Haps in Brussels, before going on to open her own speech therapy practice.
