, have left some customers waiting weeks for their orders to arrive, leading to negative online reviews of their businesses.said: “Customers are reporting that orders are taking up to a week to arrive, whereas previously packages were arriving within a couple of working days. People aren’t used to waiting this long and so it’s totally understandable they are getting frustrated.
Mr Aggarwal said that the financial impact of the postal strikes is hard to quantify but online sales are down by about half from this time last year. He believes that this could be down to the energy crisis and shoppers tightening the purse strings but he has also been told by customers at shows that they are buying gifts in the high street this year because they don’t want to risk presents not turning up in time for Christmas.
“As an example, yesterday evening I phoned Parcelforce customer services to find out why our parcels were not collected during the afternoon? I was told their warehouses were full, collections had been suspended at 4pm and drivers recalled from collections in order to focus on deliveries. Our driver usually arrives between 3.45pm and 4pm and so our orders were boxed, labelled and waiting.
