Queen Rania of Jordan has called on Western leaders to equally condemn Israel's killing of Palestinian civilians following an explosive interview on CNN.

Speaking to CNN reporter Christiane Amanpour, Queen Rania claimed there was a"glaring double standard" around the world when it came to the death of Palestinians, as Israeli military ramp up bombardment on Gaza in retaliation for Hamas' attack.

Jordan's Queen Rania has accused Western leaders of a"glaring double standard" for not condemning Israel's killing of Palestinian civilians in its ongoing bombardment of Gaza. Picture: Liam McBurney/PA Images via Getty Images"When October 7 happened, the world immediately and unequivocally stood by Israel and tried to defend itself, and condemned the attacks that happened. But what we're seeing in the last couple of weeks, we're seeing silence in the world.

"Jordan has made itself very clear, we condemn the loss of any civilian, whether Palestinian or Israeli," Rania added. "Israel has the right - and I would add, responsibility - to respond to the slaughter of their people. And we will ensure Israel has what it needs to defend itself against these terrorists. That's a guarantee."

The aim of Israel's Defence Forces is to"eliminate" Hamas for its surprise October 7 attack that left about 1,400 dead and many more injured.
