Royal Caribbean postpones its cruise after crew members tested positive for Covid-19
Royal Caribbean International will delay the inaugural sailing of its Odyssey of the Seas cruise ship by nearly a month after eight crew members tested positive for Covid-19, the cruise line’s CEO said late Tuesday, the latest setback to befall Royal Caribbean and the cruise industry as sailings resume in the U.S. this summer for the first time since the pandemic began....
As a result of the positive cases, Royal Caribbean will delay the Odyssey ship’s inaugural sailing from July 3 to July 31, and will also delay a simulation cruise slated for late June to test the ship’s safety protocols.for Covid-19 aboard Royal Caribbean’s Celebrity Millenium ship last week—the first cruise to sail from North America with paid guests since the pandemic started—despite adult passengers on the ship being required to show proof of vaccination.
