Rowdy fans kicked out of Cam Norrie's Australian Open match for 'Enger-land' chants
Cam Norrie’s late-night second round match at the Australian Open provided plenty of entertainment.
It was well gone 10pm before he even managed to walk on court against Constant Lestienne, giving the crowd a chance to get well lubricated. The British number one started well and took the opening set 6-3, but his French opponent was far from happy with the crowd. The British spectators made themselves heard with chants of ‘Enger-land, Enger-land, Enger-land’ whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Lestienne was clearly rattled by what was going on and started trying some bizarre shots, from underarm serves to ones through his legs.Ironically, Norrie was born in South Africa, to Scottish and Welsh parents, and grew up in New Zealand before going to college in the United States. The complaints from Lestienne seemingly resulted in three spectators being spoken to and, subsequently, leaving the court.
