PETALING JAYA: The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has confirmed that it blacklisted Muda deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz from holding office in registered societies due to the revocation of registration of an NGO on Oct 28.

Amira has taken the RoS to court for blacklisting her from holding office in registered societies, which the Puteri Wangsa assemblyman claims has no legal basis. However, she did say the blacklist may have been related to her role as Persatuan Ekonomi Merdeka secretary between Aug 3, 2017 and Oct 19 last year. In a statement, the RoS today said that it blacklisted Amira due to the revocation of PEM’s registration on Oct 28, 2022, which was carried out under Section 13 of the Societies Act 1966.
