Rory McIlroy got his 2024 Masters tilt off to an encouraging start on Thursday. The opening day's play was delayed due to storm conditions, with McIlroy finally getting his first round under way at 6.12pm UK time.
A bogey followed at the fourth but McIlroy returned to level par with a birdie at the par 5 eighth. Another birdie arrived at the short par three 12th and the Ulsterman picked up another shot at the 14th with a birdie three.McIloy had to take some medicine at the par 4 17th, the Holywood golfer posting a bogey five before parring the last to end the day on one-under-par .
