“I thought he was extremely active,” said Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson. “Defensively, he really competed without fouling and showed his hands. He was constantly in the right spots, and when you play that hard in the right way, the basketball will find you. That’s exactly what happened tonight.” Veteran point guard Chris Paul, who has been mentoring Castle this season, couldn’t hide his admiration for the young star.
Paul also praised Castle’s maturity and eagerness to learn. “I’m always trying to encourage him and motivate him because he’s so good at what he does, but he’s humble enough to keep listening. That’s rare in a rookie.”
