Rookie NASCAR driver shocks on Xfinity debut by securing pole position after impressive success in ARCA Menards Series.
Connor Zilisch could not have scripted a better beginning to his NASCAR Xfinity Series career. Making a stunning debut, Zilisch secured pole position in his first race for JR Motorsports, driving the No. 88 Chevy. This achievement is even more remarkable given that he has had no actual seat time in an Xfinity car before the race day, relying solely on simulator practice, as mandated by NASCAR regulations.
The rookie's promising debut was not just luck; it was the result of meticulous preparation and a strong foundation laid by his team.'Yeah, no you're not allowed to test in NASCAR all you've got is the simulator. So, this is day one and this is my first ten laps in an Xfinity car. Feels good to get up to speed quick, I've done a lot to prepare for this race and just feels good that that hard work paid off.
