The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has reopened two runways at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) that were closed following a mid-air collision between a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines regional jet on January 29th. Runways 4/22 and 15/33, which are shorter than the main runway, will help alleviate congestion and increase the hourly arrival rate to 28 aircraft. Restrictions around DCA remain in effect as the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) continues its investigation.
