The Florida governor made a name for himself among conservatives and across the country for his stance on culture war issues, his response to the COVID-19 pandemic and running against Trump.In a clip posted to X by Hannity, DeSantis is asked,"Will you run for president again?"“I mean, you know, I think that you know in '24, um like in Iowa, the people that voted for Trump, if he wasn't running, I would have gotten like 90 percent of those people. ... They were conservative voters, right? They didn’t want the non-conservative, you know, they wanted me,” he said. “But the timing didn’t work out, obviously, for that.”The Florida governor's remarks about a potential run comes as key Republicans in Trump’s administration, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, are viewed as potential contenders, which could play a factor in DeSantis’ path to consolidating the party’s base.from the Saint Anselm College Survey Center on Monday, Vance led the pack of possible GOP candidates with 46 percent and Rubio came in a distant second place with 27 percent in the poll. The survey shows DeSantis in a tie for third with 5 percent along with Nikki Haley.during a news conference when asked if Vance is the MAGA successor: "Well, I think most likely in all fairness, he's the vice president. I think Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form. I also think we have incredible people, some of the people on the stage right here, so it's too early obviously to talk about it but certainly he's doing a great job, and he would be probably favored at this point."“I’m not thinking about anything because I think we have a president now who’s not even been in for a year. We’ve got a lot that we’ve got to accomplish."Presidential candidates typically throw their name into the race after the midterm elections.
