EXCLUSIVE — Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) released a new video Wednesday teasing his energy policy strategy, vowing to undo the Biden administration’s policies and ramp up domestic fossil fuel production to lower gas prices to $2.
HOUSING STARTS FALL TO LOWEST LEVEL SINCE 2020 AS MORTGAGE RATES REMAIN HIGHThe video splices together various news clips from the last 21 months, tracing how oil demand growth and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine pushed U.S. gas prices to their highest-ever national average of more than $5 per gallon, adding price pain for consumers and sending Biden's approval rating plummeting to its lowest point.
His plan is expected to focus heavily on restoring U.S. energy dominance, increasing fossil fuel production — a pitch likely to be well-received in the oil-rich town of Midland — “saving” the U.S. automobile industry, and reforming the permitting process. U.S. gas prices have not fallen below $2 per gallon since 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before that, the lowest sustained average was in 2016 following an oil market crash and in 2009 in the wake of the Great Recession, according to data from AAA.
