The senators claim the Biden administration has"failed to acknowledge the crisis at our border," and they note how the administration has sent 1,500 active-duty troops to assist border officials"who are tasked with defending nearly 2,000 miles of border territory," according to the letter.
Other senators who signed the letter include John Barrasso , Ted Budd , Bill Cassidy , Kevin Cramer , Mike Crapo , Steve Daines , Deb Fischer , John Hoeven , James Lankford , Cynthia Lummis , Jim Risch , Marco Rubio , J.D. Vance , and Todd Young . Romney has previously called for the border wall's construction along the southern border to be finished. In December 2022, Romney claimed on social media that"record numbers of migrants" were crossing the border but that the Biden administration"refuses to accept the solution sitting right in front of them." Romney said the solution included finishing the wall and keeping the “Remain in Mexico” policy and Title 42.
