Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson is back on the field after battling injuries all season. While his return to the active roster is uncertain, his presence at practice is a positive sign for the team.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson is back on the field and feeling better than he has all season. Since July, Wilson has battled injuries. First, he had a high ankle sprain that lingered, and in the middle of October, Wilson went down with a hamstring strain that landed him on injured reserve. 'I feel really good. My body feels better than it’s ever felt in a long time. Mentally, I’m just focused, determined. I got a lot of expectations for myself,' Wilson said.
Steelers quarterback Kenny Smith says he would love to see Wilson play a role in this offense, but it is not up to him. Instead, the Steelers will wait for Mike Tomlin’s call on Wilson and his role, and whatever that may be, Smith is excited to see Wilson out there at practice. “I think we’re just taking it week by week,” Smith said. “You know, really, that’s up to Mike and the trainers... so, we’ll see.” If Wilson does play at all, it will come later in the playoffs as the Steelers continue to win. There is no guarantee they will win, so Wilson’s time is running short. However, a deep playoff run could at least give the Steelers a boost to their wide receiver room. The Steelers have six wide receivers on their active roster, and a move would have to be made to bring Wilson into the room on the 53-man roster
