PETALING JAYA: The famous kuih kuba guling (rolling buffalo) from Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, is now available in the Klang Valley.
Muhamad Raffi Muhamad Nor, 33, is one of the handful of agents in the Klang Valley who were given the opportunity to sell the delicacy delivered daily from Rantau Panjang via bus.
“I’m from Machang, but I only learnt about this famous kuih of Siamese origin last year when it went viral on social media. Even the mainstream media highlighted people willing to wait in long queues to buy it,” said the young imam who has been residing in Kota Damansara for almost a decade. “The kuih does not look attractive. But once it’s rolled onto grated coconut, it looks yummy. And it tastes good,” said the father of four children aged one, two, three and eight.“We roll the kuih in grated coconut in front of the customers before packing it.”“We source the grated coconut locally to maintain freshness,” he said, adding that he would usually buy 10 trays per day.
