The soaring price of gold is driving up the cost of Rolex watches, with some gold models seeing increases of up to 14%.

Rolex watches, known for their high price tags, are becoming even more expensive in 2025 due to the rising cost of gold. Prices on some of the Swiss company's gold watches have surged by as much as 14%, according to enthusiast websites that track listings. This is a significant difference compared to their steel counterparts, which have seen an average 3% increase. The Daytona, one of Rolex 's most popular models, has experienced the most substantial price hikes.

For instance, the white gold version with the OysterFlex bracelet now has a suggested price of $38,100, a jump from $35,000 last year. Another model, the GMT-Master in yellow gold, is priced at $43,300 on Rolex's website, a nearly 7% increase. Rolex declined to comment on the price increases, but the luxury watchmaker has a history of annual price adjustments, with the rising cost of gold playing a major role in recent increases for gold watches. Gold prices soared 27% last year as central banks worldwide lowered interest rates. Investors often view gold as a safe haven during economic uncertainty and inflation, and lower interest rates can make gold more attractive than income-generating assets like bonds. However, the higher prices are not expected to deter watch buyers and collectors. Wealthy clients, with deep pockets, are often unaffected by market fluctuations that impact ordinary consumers. As written by Antonio Sasso for Italian Watch Spotter, price increases are not only not leading to a significant loss of customers, they are becoming a key strategy. Gold prices are projected to remain elevated in 2025, driven by the strengthening US dollar and lower interest rates. Joseph Dahrieh, managing principal at brokerage firm Tickmill, stated that the current market sentiment indicates sustained support for gold prices, particularly as investors seek to diversify their portfolios against economic and political risks
