The Rockies own an 8-18 record, second only to the 2005 club (6-20) for the worst start after 26 games in franchise history.
The Rockies, owner of the worst record in the National League, not only had their modest two-game winning streak halted by a 4-1 loss to the Guardians, but they also saw right-handerin the fourth inning with an injury to his right triceps. Marquez was making his first start since coming off the 15-day injured list where he was being treated for right forearm inflammation.
The Rockies own an 8-18 record, second only to the 2005 club for the worst start after 26 games in franchise history. Cleveland, meanwhile, received a terrific start from right-hander Tanner Bibee in his major league debut. He limited the Rockies to one run on six hits over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out eight, including five in a row in the second and third innings, and didn’t walk a batter.
“He mixed it up well with a really good change of speeds,” Colorado third baseman Ryan McMahon said. “His slider and curveball look similar coming out of his hand. And the changeup had a big speed difference. And he has a 97 mph fastball, so you better be ready.”“He had a good mix and he used all effectively,” Black said. “From our scouting reports, we knew the mix was coming, and the velocity, but until you get in the box and see the stuff, it’s advantage pitcher.
Colorado nicked Bibee for a run in the sixth on a leadoff double by Jurickson Profar and an RBI single by Kris Bryant. The Rockies were limited to seven hits and struck out 12 times.Related Articles
