It’s only April and it’s already getting ugly at Coors Field.Again setting a new low for the worst start in club history, the Rockies capped an embarrassing series against the Pirates, who blasted them 14-3 in Wednesday’s matinee in LoDo.
It marked Colorado’s eighth straight defeat as the Rockies have the worst record in the National League, the worst run differential in the NL , the worst starting ERA in the NL and the worst record through 19 games in franchise history at 5-14. A sparse 18,511 turned out for the game as local fan apathy — amplified in Wednesday’s attendance line because Pittsburgh doesn’t pack the stands with diehards as some visiting franchises can — was evident. The lowest-ever announced attendance for a Rockies game is 18,119 .
Over the eight-game skid, which started with a blown lead to the Cardinals last week in LoDo, the Rockies found many roads to defeat.
