The Rock Hall will open a new Mojo Nixon exhibit with a ceremony featuring friends and family on Wednesday, June 12CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will celebrate rock and roll rebel Mojo Nixon with a new exhibit that will open on Wednesday with a ceremony. Additionally, The Ohio State House will declare June 12 Mojo Nixon Day.
Also at the exhibit opening will be Gordy Sheer, a 1998 Olympic Silver medalist on the US Luge team, of which Nixon was honorary captain, and Bobby Parker, Nixon’s high school friend and cross-country bicycle trip partner. Though Nixon was a North Carolina native, he lived and worked in Cincinnati for many years, including a stint in radio with Eddie Fingers, a WLW radio personality who also co-hosted a show with Nixon on WEBN, who will also be present.
The exhibit will feature Nixon’s preferred stage attire of daisy dukes, a red Hawaiian shirt, and a pink Loudmouth sports jacket, along with his Dean Martin embossed Guild Starfire guitar, his TV head stage prop and original handwritten lyrics to his 1987 hit with former partner Skid Roper “Elvis Is Everywhere” which was a popular on the Dr. Demento Show and in regular rotation on MTV.
Mojo Nixon’s brand of adrenalized psychobilly mixed with his high energy, no-holds-barred, pop-culture skewering humor in songs such as the controversial “Don Henley Must Die,” and “Debbie Gibson Is Pregnant with My Two-Headed Love Child,” both of which made the US Modern rock Top 20.
