Rock guitarist Josh Klinghoffer is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on a vehicular manslaughter charge more than seven months after he allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian, court documents noted.Israel Sanchez, who was walking along a crosswalk in Alhambra, California, on March 18 around 2:50 p.m., according to a wrongful death lawsuit.
Sanchez was hit in the back and "thrown and/or dragged across the asphalt," suffering serious head injuries, documents noted. He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. Sanchez's daughter, Ashley, filed the lawsuit against the guitarist, with her attorneys allegeding distracted driving. "Video of the incident shows that made no braking or slowing motion until after he struck ... Sanchez," the documents noted, adding that Klinghoffer was using a device“It’s clear from the evidence that Mr. Klinghoffer was not on the phone at the time of the accident,” Andrew B. Brettler said in a statement to KTLA. “This was a tragic accident. There was no criminal intent, nor is any alleged.”"Obviously, he's cooperating with the police throughout the traffic investigation.
