A man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on drug trafficking and firearm charges, according to the United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of New York.

Rochester, N.Y. — A man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on drug trafficking and firearm charges, according to the United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of New York. Todd Romig, 29, of Rochester, conspired with others to sell marijuana between June 2024 and April 10, 2025, obtaining multi-pound quantities and reselling them to customers at a profit, prosecutors said.
The investigation culminated April 10, 2025, when prosecutors said Rochester police responded to a report of shots fired at a Monroe Avenue apartment building and detained Romig after entering his apartment. Officers spotted open boxes filled with vacuum-sealed packages of suspected marijuana, along with spent shell casings and a rifle. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators seized 34 pounds of marijuana, a loaded rifle, ammunition, a loaded magazine and more than $50,000 in cash believed to be drug proceeds.
During the investigation, authorities also recovered about 146 pounds of marijuana from a Spencerport residence on Union Street that prosecutors said Romig used to store marijuana. Romig pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribute, 50 kilograms or more of marijuana, and possession and discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, prosecutors said.
