Rochester, N.Y. A man is now awaiting sentencing after a Monroe County jury convicted him Friday for a murder that occurred more than two years ago.

Marlon Williams, 35, shot 24-year-old Shaquan Parker July 15, 2022, in the backyard of a home on Wellington Avenue in Rochester, according to prosecutors. Parker died at the scene. Investigators determined Williams was driving when he saw Parker and fired multiple gunshots in his direction, fatally wounding him.Williams was arrested Sept. 5, 2023, when he was found in possession of the illegal gun that was used in the murder, prosecutors said.
“Marlon Williams was driving down Wellington Avenue, looking for Shaquan Parker,” Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Kristina Hinkley said in a statement. “The defendant intended to kill Parker that day, shooting at the victim from a motor vehicle. As a repeat felony offender, Williams should have never possessed a firearm, let alone using it to take a life."
