A critical program for students is expanding due to a major financial boost.

Don't miss our weekly town hall.Local leaders gathered at Geva Theatre, Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, to announce the expansion of the Roc Your Job after-school employment program, now providing year-long employment opportunities for local youth. The initiative is designed to address key social challenges by connecting youth in underserved neighborhoods with job opportunities.
The program was launched earlier this year and has since employed 311 youth with after-school jobs. Thanks to an additional $3.9 million in funding from New York state's youth employment program, the program will be able reach more teenagers. "We are now able to serve more than 340 teens throughout the entire school year," said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. "This will ensure that more young people will have access to jobs to build skills, confidence and a pathway to a brighter future."
Eligible youth must be between the ages of 14 and 20 and must live in households at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
