MELAKA: Klebang assemblyman Lim Ban Hong says he saw how high-tech equipment is used by the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department during a blaze here.

He said he obtained insight into how firemen use drones to get a better picture of the situation when a furniture factory in Bukit Rambai Industrial Park was razed in an 11.20am incident on Wednesday ."I am confident that the department is exploring the use of robots and other technology that could drastically change how we fight fires in the state," he said.

He said a fireman showed him how drones assist firemen to show real-time conditions, and show the effectiveness of their efforts and allow them to make tactical decision changes to help douse the fire more effectively.Lim said he played a part during the incident on Wednesday as there was low water pressure at the scene.Melaka Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Khairil Azmi Muhamad said 25 firefighters from various stations fought the blaze.

He said one of the firemen, Mohd Arif Akmal Zulkfili, sustained a minor injury on the right side of his torso.
