The Jets have talked about being the best defense in the NFL, but they looked nothing like that in this one.
“It’s definitely going to get fixed,” Saleh said Tuesday morning. “I’m not discouraged in any way. Obviously, they executed a hell of a lot better than we did, and we’ll be better for it.” The 49ers scored on eight consecutive drives after the Jets forced a punt to open the game.
“I think where the game got away from us is at the end of the first half we give up, I think it was like a six-minute drive that ate up the rest of the first half where they got the field goal,” Saleh said, “and then they came out of the locker room with another seven-minute drive that led to a field goal, so we went from 13-7 to 23-7, and our offense went over an hour without being on the field.
Saleh admitted he feels better this year at 0-1 than he did a year ago at 1-0 because he believes the team’s issues are correctable.
