Robert Rodriguez will helm a new remake of the 1998 cult classic teen sci-fi horror 'The Faculty,' starring Jordana Brewster, Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood, and more. The original film followed a group of high school students who discover their teachers are being taken over by alien parasites. Rodriguez is best known for his action-packed films such as the 'Spy Kids' franchise, 'Desperado,' and 'From Dusk Till Dawn.' BoulderLight, the production company behind 'Barbarian' and 'Woman of the Hour,' will produce the remake.

In addition to the aforementioned cast, the original version of The Faculty also stars Clea DuVall, Laura Harris, Shawn Hatosy, Salma Hayek, Famke Janssen, Piper Laurie, Chris McDonald, Bebe Neuwirth, and Jon Stewart. “To the students at Harrington High, the principal and her posse of teachers have always been a little odd, but lately they’ve been behaving positively alien,” a description of the movie reads. “Controlled by otherworldly parasites, the faculty try to infect students one by one. Cheerleader Delilah , football player Stan , drug dealer Zeke and new girl Marybeth team up with some of their other classmates to fight back against the invaders.
A release date has not yet been set for the remake of The Faculty.
