Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to meet with Senate Democrats as he seeks confirmation as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services ( HHS ) in President-elect Trump's incoming administration. Kennedy, a former Democrat himself, confirmed to Fox News Digital that he would be meeting with Democrats on Capitol Hill in addition to Republicans. Although he didn't disclose which Democrats he would meet, he stated that he 'doesn't know' when asked by reporters.

Kennedy began his Capitol Hill meetings on Monday, meeting with several Republicans. Initially, no Democratic senators were included in the list of dozens of lawmakers he was set to meet with at the beginning of the week. Trump announced Kennedy as his HHS pick last month. The two were initially running against each other in the 2024 election before Kennedy dropped out and endorsed Trump. Kennedy's confirmation could face several obstacles, particularly concerning vaccines, agriculture, and abortion. He has been an outspoken skeptic of vaccinations, which has raised concerns among some Republican and Democrat senators. Kennedy is also pro-choice and has supported abortion access throughout his life, leaving some Republicans with questions as HHS has some authority over regulations that apply to abortion and those who provide them
