Robert De Niro is set to star in the upcoming Netflix limited series Zero Day, according to a recent report from Variety.
The project, which is currently in the works at the streamer, hails from producers Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim, and will reportedly be a political thriller that sees De Niro play a former U.S. President. Not too much is known about the series as of now, however, with the series still in the early stages of development.
Variety’s report mentions that both Newman and Oppenheim are set to act as writers and executive producers on the series, with a story by Newman, Oppenheim, and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Michael Schmidt. De Niro is also set to executive produce the series as well as star. Should the series move forward, it would mark the first regular television role of De Niro’s incredibly long and storied career.
