De Niro stars as George Mullen, a respected former U.S. President, who’s brought back into the federal government for one more job — investigating a catastrophic cyber attack that killed thousands and wrought chaos across the country.
Near the end of the trailer, the current president, Evelyn Mitchell, played by Angella Bassett, says ominously: “People believe what they need to believe. The truth is the truth — but it’s not always the most important thing.” , which also includes Jesse Plemmons as Mullen’s former aide-turned-fixer, Roger Carlson, and Lizzy Caplan as Alexandra Mullen — daughter of the former president, now a congressional representative trying to chart her own political future.
