The latest trailer for the Robbie Williams bipoic shows the pop legend — as a monkey — struggling to adjust to fame.
has arrived and opens with a message from the pop legend: “This is my story. But I’m not gonna tell it in an ordinary way because I don’t see myself how others see me.”
And Williams wasn’t lying about the not-ordinary part — he appears as a monkey in the film. The singer lends his vocals to the film and is voiced and motion-captured by actor Jonno Davies. The trailer gives a full look at Williams as a monkey, rocking a packed festival crowd as he cheekily notes, “To be honest, I’ve always been a little less evolved. So let’s take it from the top, shall we.”
The clip then chronicles Williams’ life and times, including his childhood, the moment he joined British pop group Take That, and the trials he faced throughout his career. “I’m going to be fucking famous!” he says at one point. At one point in the documentary, he wearily asks, “Do I look like a pop star?” His mother informs him she “wouldn’t change a hair” on his head. The moment has an extra effect with Williams portrayed as a monkey.
