Here’s one of our favorite salads that feeds parents and babies alike.
Here’s one of my favorite salads that feeds parents and babies alike. It’s got avocado, cauliflower, and a zippy yogurt dressing. You can give your baby each element before seasoning and composing for your own meal. It’s a win-win for everyone involved. Use this recipe as a guideline for cooking once, and eating twice—more on my strategy for that here—but remember, it’s simply a template. If you don’t have cauliflower, swap it for whatever is in season and can be roasted until soft.
Editor's Note: Even if you aren't a new parent, you can—and should—still make this herby salad. Just season from the start as you would normally, enjoy the extra cauliflower for yourself, and use 6 tablespoons of yogurt instead of 1/2 cup.

Poached Tuna with Warm Squash, Corn, and Potato Salad Recipe on Food52You're going to think I'm lazy. And you're right. I like olive oil, I like vegetables, and I like warm salads. So when I'm not feeling particularly inventive or energetic, I like to throw them all together in a single dish. Vegetables get roasted. Fish gets poached in oil (an old stand-by for me). A squeeze of lemon and a dried chile come in to give everything a kick in the pants. And I have a comforting dinner on the table without much thought or effort. We like our summer produce at Food52 -- Want us to send you another corn newsletter? Watch out, or we will! -- so I had to get just one more blast of corn and squash in under the wire. Then, soon, I'll behave and start cozying up to apples and cabbage.

Dilled, Crunchy Sweet-Corn Salad with Buttermilk Dressing Recipe on Food52Whenever I cook corn for my family, I cut off the tips, the better to fit the ears into my soup kettle. I always find myself nibbling the sweet kernels from those tips and wondering how else these little nubbins could be used. So when Amanda and Merrill announced the competition for best uncooked dish, I decided to try for a crunchy, chunky salad starring uncooked corn that would be colorful and satisfying. Here is the result. You could replace the shallots with some minced chives or scallions. This salad could replace cole slaw or potato salad as a side dish for a hefty sandwich. - creamtea

Summer Farro Salad Recipe on Food52I love farro for its nutty texture, and it has the same nutritional benefits as brown rice but cooks in half the time. Rather than simply cook it in water, I added some garlic, onion and parsley to the pan to infuse extra flavor. This recipe started with the Mr. asking me to cook something for his office potluck, so I decided to focus on a salad that could easily double as a side or main course for any vegetarians hoping to take part in the potluck. Studded with tiny bits of fresh mozzarella, chopped olives, onions and grape tomatoes, it's now my new favorite summer salad. The dressing is also a very versatile vinaigrette you can toss with any mixed greens for a homemade option to bottled dressings.
