National Weather Service forecasters are predicting that nine inches or more of snow could blanket much of the region, with aThe supply shortages come as many communities grapple with this winter’s frequent snowfall–leaving road salt suppliers unable to keep up with demand. Richfield and Twinsburg are the latest municipalities to announce that supply shortages are leaving them no choice but to treat some roads and not others. “Our salt supplier, which serves many communities and agencies across the region, is experiencing supply issues with salt orders. The village placed an order a week and a half ago, and we are unsure when the order will be delivered. It is possible it may come next week, however that will not be in time for the storm expected this weekend. Our service director and service department have been on top of the situation and in constant contact with our supplier,” the Village of RichfieldMain roads, intersections, bridges and hills will be prioritized, while other roads will just be plowed, according to the village. Richfield uses Cargill as its salt supplier. We did receive two truckloads recently, with future deliveries dependent on availability and scheduling.
