Road closures, flooding and mudslides as heavy rains lash the Garden Route
Motorists are urgent to be vigilant following heavy rains that hit most parts of the George Municipality and led to road closures.Parts of the Garden Route e have experienced road closures, flooding and mudslides due to heavy rain.The SA Weather Service warned of severe weather condition over parts of the Western and Eastern Cape.
The N2 has been closed at Kaaimans Pass following a mudslide. The George Municipality advised motorists travelling between Wilderness and George to use the Saasveld Road as an alternate route, however, the road has also since been closed as a result of fallen trees and remains inaccessible. "Motorists are warned to travel with caution and to avoid being on the roads unless absolutely necessary.
"Motorists are urged to travel with caution and to consider taking alternative routes," the municipality warned.
