A Riverside County Sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty is being laid to rest. Funeral services will be held Thursday.
A solemn farewell awaits fallen Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Timothy Corlew as his funeral services and law enforcement procession are scheduled for Thursday. Deputy Corlew, a 40-year-old dedicated public servant, tragically lost his life on January 8th while performing motor enforcement duties. He was assigned to the Jurupa Valley station and his untimely passing has deeply impacted the community and the department.
Governor Gavin Newsom expressed his heartfelt condolences, stating, 'It is with profound sadness that Jennifer and I extend our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Corlew. His unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the community exemplifies the very best of what it means to be a public servant. We are forever grateful for his service and will never forget his sacrifice.' In recognition of Corlew's dedication, Governor Newsom ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and Capitol Annex Swing Space on January 9th. The funeral service will be held at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in Riverside, a private ceremony for family and close friends. Following the services, a solemn law enforcement procession will escort Deputy Corlew from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department to Olivewood Memorial Park, where he will be laid to rest. His journey with the department began in 2016, graduating from the 198th Basic Academy and initially serving in Sheriff's Court Services. In 2019, he transferred to the Jurupa Valley station, where he continued to serve with honor until his tragic passing. Deputy Corlew leaves behind his wife and two sons who will forever cherish his memory
