HIGHLANDFIRE has burned 150 acres in Beaumont as winds push flames toward homes
Firefighters were battling a brush fire in Moreno Valley which quickly spread to 160 acres and engulfed at least one home in flames.Evacuations were ordered Friday in Moreno Valley and Beaumont as Riverside County firefighters battled two brush fires that consumed more than 600 acres and destroyed at least one home.The Reche Fire was first reported around 1 p.m. near the 9400 block of Reche Canyon Road in unincorporated Moreno Valley.
It was initially estimated at 5 acres but among hot conditions and "flashy fuels" it spread to at least 50 acres within an hour and 160 acres by the second hour. By 3:16 p.m. the state's FIRIS had mapped the spread at 400 acres.There were no immediate reports of injuries. Evacuations were ordered for the following area: South of Reche Canyon Road, West of Locust/Trust, North of Alta Vista and East of Reche Vista Drive/ Perris Blvd. Evacuation Warning: North of Ironwood, East of Perris Blvd, South of Alta Vista, West of Moreno Beach.
Road closures were also in place, according to the Riverside County sheriff, which tweeted: "There is a hard closure at Perris Blvd Northbound X Heacock Ave At Reche Vista. Communities east of Perris Blvd to Moreno Beach Drive just North of Ironwood Ave are under voluntary evacuations."
