ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A flood warning is in place for Upper and Lower Kalskag on the Kuskokwim River. Ice moving downstream stalled at Kalskag and residents report water over the road that connects the two villages.
Some kids were sent home from school by boat we are told. A flood watch is in place for Fort Yukon. Ice moved past Circle and is expected at Fort Yukon Tuesday morning. Pay close attention to ice conditions and alerts. Winds were blustery over the Alaska Range on Monday. And many parts of Alaska were seeing windy weather as the week began. Wind gusts hit 51 at Deadhorse with a 40 mph gust in Nome, 48 mph gust in Cold Bay. A large low, one is a series of lows, is spinning over the Gulf of Alaska. Snow was reported in Whittier, mixing with rain. A lightning strike was seen north of Anchorage, in the Susitna Valley. Lightning could pop up again Tuesday. Wet weather hit southwest and southeast.
