Cases of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches sold in eight states are being recalled due to packs being incorrectly labeled and posing a risk to people with peanut allergies. Montelez Global LLC, the owner of the Ritz brand, initially issued a recall in July, but the FDA said in a news release on Nov.

28 that Montelez is issuing the recall for 70 cases for the product “out of an abundance of caution.” Here's what to know. Why Are the Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches Being Recalled? Individually wrapped packs may be incorrectly labeled as cheese variety even though the product may be the peanut butter variety of the crackers, according to the FDA. People with peanut allergies could potentially suffer serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming the products incorrectly labeled as cheese instead of peanut butter. The labels on the outer cartons of the product are correct as far as indicating whether the product contains peanuts. It’s the individual labels that can potentially be incorrect, according to the FDA. Mondelez has not received any reports of injury or illness due to the affected cracker sandwiches and said it is taking “corrective actions” to fix the issue. Which States Were the Recalled Products Sold In? The affected sandwiches were sold in the following states: New YorkNew JerseyPennsylvaniaGeorgiaArkansasMissouri OklahomaAlabama How Do You Know if You Bought the Recalled Products? The recall applies to Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwich cartons with the “Best When Used By” date of of Jan. 8 2026 and Jan. 15 2026 with the “AE” plant code only, which is located on the top of the package. The cartons contain 20 packs of 1.38-ounce Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches. Cartons that only contained Ritz Cheese Cracker Sandwiches are not affected, and neither are cartons with Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches or Ritz Filled Cracker Sandwich variety packs that have different “Best When Used By” dates and plant codes than the ones listed above. What Should You Do If You Bought the Recalled Products? Anyone with a peanut allergy should not eat the products and throw them away. Consumers with any questions can contact the company at 1-844-366-1171 from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
