The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) on Sunday denied reports that its COVID-19 testing centers are not accepting specimens collected from nonmembers of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

RITM Director Celia Carlos clarified that individuals who were recommended to be tested or “have already been swabbed” but “yet to become a PhilHealth member” will still be accommodated.

The RITM has required hospitals and Disease Reporting Units to submit CF-2 Philhealth forms “upon referral of specimens,” since May 18. “The paperwork may seem laborious to the field personnel, but if it is for the benefit of the public that we serve. I believe we can all agree that this is worth doing,” the RITM director added.

The RITM said patients, once enrolled, will be able to avail of benefit claims for testing, hospitalization offered by PhilHealth.
