Planners are taking another look at the project after bids for the initial proposal came in higher than expected.
The project had also envisioned replacement tile for the 50-metre pool basin and a revised pool deck, the addition of meeting and multi-purpose rooms, and upgrades to the weight room, water treatment and building mechanical system as well as the roof and exterior of the building.
There was no timeline provided for how much longer the delay will keep the aquatic centre closed. A media release from the city noted that it is “neither possible nor cost effective” to reopen the facility in the interim and that it will remain closed as preliminary work continues to prepare the site for a contractor.Article content
