Rishi Sunak says it will 'take time' to reduce NHS waitlists as he prepares 'significant' workforce plan
Rishi Sunak said it ‘will take time’ to reduce long NHS waitlists as he promises a new workforce plan will ‘do something that no government has ever done’.
He told the BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg show: “This week we’re going to do something that no government has ever done. The full plan is expected to be published next week. Mr Sunak was accused by Kuenssberg of picking selective statistics when he said the number of people waiting two years for treatment was last year “practically eliminated”.
Writing about the NHS workforce plan in The Sunday Times, Mr Sunak said: “It will ensure we train, retain, reform and make the most of our talented and experienced staff.
